Know Her Heart · Free guidance for men, married or single

Understand her. Lead yourself.

Know Her Heart exists to help men understand the woman in their life a little better. No man ever understands a woman completely, and we will not pretend otherwise. But every man can keep learning her, and that is what love does. If you are married or in a relationship, you will learn to know your partner more deeply. If you are single, you will learn how attraction works with the woman you want, and how to lead it with honor toward courtship.

Male and female, different by design and made to complete each other.

Why this site exists

Two kinds of readers, one goal: understand her

We have watched too many good men, bright, well educated, and sincere in their faith, get beaten down in the dating world. They have character and good intentions. What they never received was a clear explanation of how women think, feel, and choose. Everything here is written to close that gap, so you can love your partner well or win the heart of the woman you want. We tell the truth about dating as it really is today, even when it is uncomfortable. Every article is free.

The foundation

Different by design

God created humanity male and female, equal in worth and distinct in nature. Men and women tend to want, decide, and love in different ways. Pretending the difference away is why so much modern dating advice leaves good men confused.

Men tend toward direction, structure, and protection. Women tend toward connection, responsiveness, and nurture. Neither ranks above the other. When a man brings his direction and a woman brings her warmth, the two become more than the sum of their parts, the way two companies with different strengths merge to build something neither could build alone.

One rule keeps all of this honest: there are groups, and there are individuals within those groups. Patterns help you read the room. The woman in front of you still deserves to be met as herself.

The eight principles

What every man should have been taught at sixteen

Four principles shape the man you are. Four shape how you meet her.

Your core

Hold your frame

Your calm is the most attractive thing you own. When she pushes, teases, or tests, she is checking whether you stay steady. Stay steady.

Your core

Lead with a plan

Pick the place, set the time, make the call. Women rarely want a man who asks permission for everything. They want one who has thought it through and invites them in.

Your core

Build your life first

Purpose, health, money, friends. A woman should enter a life that is already worth living. She should never have to become the reason for it.

Your core

Strength is for serving

Leadership is not control. A strong man goes first: first to serve, first to sacrifice, first to take responsibility. That is strength a woman can rest in.

Meeting her

Read actions over words

Words carry mood. Behavior carries intent. Watch what she does with her time and attention, and whether she follows through.

Meeting her

Answer feelings, not arguments

When she is upset, the logic of the complaint is often the least important part. Acknowledge the feeling, keep your position, and skip the courtroom.

Meeting her

Complement, don't compete

You are not trying to become her, and she is not trying to become you. The spark lives in the difference. Protect it.

Meeting her

Make it serious before sex

Sex bonds two people, which is exactly why it belongs inside marriage. Show her you are serious through clear intentions, faithfulness, and a path to marriage, not through the bedroom.

Faith and real life

The Bible is our authority

Scripture tells us who men and women are, what marriage is for, and how a man should love. Headship in the Bible is servant leadership, modeled on Christ. What Scripture does not set out to be is a field manual for the second date or a text thread that has gone quiet. That practical gap is where many good men stumble, and it is the gap this site fills, always inside the boundaries the Bible sets.

"Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as the weaker partners and show them honor as fellow heirs of the grace of life." (NET)

1 Peter 3:7 · The verse this site is built on

The NET translators note that the Greek reads literally "living together according to knowledge." Understanding her is a husband's duty, and that duty is why this site exists.

Hold your frame

Scripture calls men to keep watch, stand firm, and be strong. Steadiness under pressure is not a dating trick. It is part of being a man of faith.

1 Corinthians 16:13
Lead with a plan

A man makes his plans and trusts God to direct his steps. Take the initiative, and hold the outcome with humility.

Proverbs 16:9
Build your life first

Proverbs puts the fields before the house: establish your work, then build a family. Above all, seek God's kingdom before your own.

Proverbs 24:27 · Matthew 6:33
Strength is for serving

Jesus said the greatest among his followers would be the one who serves, and husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church.

Mark 10:42 to 45 · Ephesians 5:25
Read actions over words

Charm can deceive and beauty fades, but character lasts. Jesus taught that a tree is known by its fruit, and so is a person.

Proverbs 31:30 · Matthew 7:16
Answer feelings, not arguments

Husbands are told plainly not to grow bitter toward their wives, and every believer to be quick to listen and slow to anger.

Colossians 3:19 · James 1:19
Complement, don't compete

God made for the man a companion who corresponds to him: equal in worth, different by design, and never his inferior.

Genesis 2:18
Make it serious before sex

Scripture calls the bond of marriage one flesh, and asks that marriage be honored and the marriage bed kept pure.

Genesis 2:24 · Hebrews 13:4

We write from a complementarian reading of Scripture: men and women are equal in worth and different in calling. Where popular dating advice conflicts with the Bible, we leave it out. Christians who read these passages differently are welcome here, and so are men of other faiths or none. If you have already crossed lines you now regret, you are welcome too: grace comes first, and the standard can start today. Scripture quotations are from the NET Bible.

Glossary

The words you will meet here

Words from men's dating forums, defined plainly so you can keep the useful parts and leave the bitterness behind, and words from Scripture, explained so you can read the Bible with confidence.

From the dating world

Approach
Walking up to a woman you do not know and starting a conversation, honestly and respectfully, ready to accept any answer.
Fitness test
A playful or pointed challenge that checks a man's confidence. Older forums use a cruder name for it.
Frame
The steady reality a man holds under pressure: his values, his mood, and his direction.
Friend zone
When a man becomes a woman's close friend while hoping for more, and never says so. The honest cure is to state your interest early and accept her answer.
Hypergamy
The tendency of many women to look for a partner of equal or greater strength, status, or direction. Forums often say it with bitterness. We say it plainly: become a man worth choosing, and never resent her for wanting one.
IOI
Indicator of interest. Sustained eye contact, touch, questions about you, and plans she starts herself.
Negging
A backhanded remark meant to lower a woman's confidence so she seeks a man's approval. We never teach it. Tease about something light instead, and let her leave feeling bigger, not smaller.
Nice guy
A man who is kind as a strategy: doing favors in hope of a reward while hiding his intentions. Kindness is good. Kindness with a hidden invoice is not.
Oneitis
Fixation on one woman before any real relationship exists, usually born of scarcity. Devotion to one woman in courtship and marriage is the goal; oneitis is devotion she never agreed to.
Polarity
The attraction created by the difference between a man and a woman.
Push and pull
Alternating warmth and distance. The natural rhythm of a man with a full life is healthy. Hot and cold staged to make her anxious is manipulation, and we never teach it.
Supplication
Putting her approval above your own values. Pleasing in order to be liked.

From Scripture and the faith

Complementarian
The reading of Scripture that men and women are equal in worth and different in calling, made to complete each other. It is the view this site writes from.
Courtship
Dating with a purpose: a man openly pursuing a woman to discover whether they should marry.
Covenant
A binding promise made before God. Scripture treats marriage as a covenant, not a contract (Malachi 2:14): a lifelong commitment, not a deal that ends when one side stops delivering.
Ezer kenegdo
Hebrew in Genesis 2:18, rendered "a companion for him who corresponds to him" in the NET. A strong partner, never a servant.
Headship
The biblical calling of a husband to lead by serving and sacrificing, modeled on Christ (Ephesians 5:23 to 25).
Lord
Printed in small capitals in many English Bibles, including the NET, wherever the Hebrew text uses God's personal name. That is why it appears that way on this site.
NET Bible
The New English Translation, a modern English Bible known for its extensive translators' notes. Every Scripture quotation on this site is from the NET.
One flesh
Scripture's description of the bond marriage creates between husband and wife, including through sex (Genesis 2:24). It is why we teach that sex belongs inside marriage.
Unequally yoked
Paul's picture of two different animals forced under one yoke (2 Corinthians 6:14). Many Christians apply it to marrying someone who does not share your faith.

The KHH code

Become more. Never make her less.

"Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her" (NET)Ephesians 5:25

No deception

We teach presence, honesty, and leadership. Never lines that lie about who you are, never negging, and never staged hot and cold to keep her anxious.

Her no is final

Interest is earned, and it can be withdrawn. A man with frame accepts both gracefully.

Love gives

Love is not a trade. A man gives because he loves, not to buy affection or collect a debt, and he never keeps score.

Knowledge is for love

Everything we teach about women is for loving her better, never for leverage. Understanding her is a duty, not a weapon.

Respect the person

Patterns describe tendencies. Every woman you meet is a person first and a pattern second.

Honor her with your eyes

We never describe women in ways that feed lust. She is someone to know, not something to look at.

One woman

We never teach keeping options open or pursuing another man's wife. Faithfulness starts in courtship and lasts for life.

The shoulder test

If she read your strategy over your shoulder, would you still be proud of it? If not, drop it.
